Stanley Neil Dewey (August 11, 1940 – March 18, 2023) was a resident of both Florissant, Colorado as well as Colorado Springs, Colorado. He retired from Safeway as a clerk for many years. Stanley also had his own landscape/yard maintenance business. Late in life, Stan was also a professional woodcarver, winning various awards.
Stan was born in Redlands, California to Faye and Hap Dewey. He grew up in the northern California town of Fortuna, where he graduated high school, and attended Shasta College in Redding, California.
In addition to woodcarving, Stan was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish and camp. He enjoyed working outdoors, even if it was grueling work.
Stan is survived by his sons: Denton Dewey, Bruce Bucher and Brian Bucher; his grandkids: Cierra Hansford, Matthew Bucher, Renata Kolinko, Jakob Bucher, Erich Bucher, Ryan Bucher, Graham Bucher, Morgan Bucher, and Jeremiah Wert. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Dewey; his daughter, Shelley Dewey; and stepson, Brad Bucher.
A Celebration of Life is planned for 11:00am, June 30, 2023 at the Woodmoor Barn in Monument, Colorado.
Stan was a dedicated family man that loved kids. A contribution can be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/GiftFunds/GiftFunds?px=5599733&pg=personal&fr_id=39300), Stan’s favorite charity.
Stan will be missed by all that were blessed enough to meet him. His life was filled with hard work, but it was also filled with laughter and living life to the fullest. He never let his family forget how much he loved them, and how proud he was of all of them.
