Steve Blubaugh, age 65, passed away on 30 November, 2020. He was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was a business owner and entrepreneur. Steve was born on 17 November, 1955 to Benjamin Blubaugh and Martha (Hoffman) Blubaugh in Crestline, Ohio. The family relocated to Colorado Springs in 1972. On 02 February, 2002 he married Rhonda Leming in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

As a natural business man, the only time he wasn’t self-employed was for a short time with Fargo’s Pizza when it originally opened. He went on to manage Cimarron Parts Store owned by the Blubaugh family. In 1983 Steve opened Blubaugh’s Automotive specializing in Corvettes and muscle cars. In 2001, Steve entered into a partnership to open a Powder Coating business. After just a few years, he became the sole proprietor and transitioned from full time automotive to powder coating and renamed the business R&S Powder Coating.

Steve enjoyed a wide variety of year-round outdoor activities and also ensured his family, and friends, when possible, were given the opportunity to participate in these activities. These activities included snow skiing and snowmobiling; camping and dirt bike/ATV riding; boating and water skiing and NHRA Top Fuel Drag Racing. He was particularly fond of motor sports as a fan and a participant. Steve never owned anything motorized that remained stock.

Steve was a member of Radiant Assembly of God Church. He especially enjoyed the fellowship of the small groups.

He is survived by loving Wife Rhonda; his sons, Curtis Hudson, Clint Hudson, and Evan Blubaugh all of Colorado Springs; brother, William (Peggy) Blubaugh of Las Vegas, NV and sister, Patricia Teall of Colorado Springs. He also leaves one grandson, Skyler Hudson of Colorado Springs; nephew, Edward (Nicole) Blubaugh of Las Vegas, NV and niece and god daughter Lauren (Taylor) Vincent of Parker, CO; and two great-nephews Nathan and Austin Blubaugh. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Barbara Paul.

There was only one Steve. He had to be reminded often that others were not raised as he was and occasionally had difficulty understanding another person’s perspective. Steve was a loving husband and father who never denied his family anything and afforded his family opportunities above and beyond normal lifestyles. He may not have always expressed affection but always showed his love in his deeds. In business he was fair, honest and took care of his employees and customers and helped others when needed. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A remembrance gathering will take place 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2020 at The Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. A memorial service will take place the following day, Friday, December 11, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at The Shrine of Remembrance. A reception will be held following the memorial service at the Blubaugh residence, 24360 Murphy Rd. Calhan, Colorado.

  2. I am so sorry for the Blubaugh’s lost. I met Steve when Evan joined Scouting. He was always there to lend a hand do what was needed. He will be sorely missed.

  3. We are so sorry for your loss, I remember Steve as someone who shared my passion for cars, a hard worker who cared about his family. Gone to soon Blessings, Gail and George Richards

  4. I met Steve thru Cub scouts and then Boy Scouts. We would go on the camp outs like the “Klondike” in January and freeze to support the boys and troop. Steve opened his shop to the cub scouts for the pinewood derby “build day” for several years. Even after Evan moved on to Boy Scouts he still wanted to host it for the Cub Scouts, so they would have the tools and place to do a good job on their “cars”. He would be showing them how to do it and grilling up hot dogs for everyone.
Steve even sponsored our Cub Scout pack for a couple of years when we lost our previous sponsorship. When the troop or pack had problems with the trailers Steve was there helping to fix them. He was real knowledgeable and an asset to both the pack and troop.
Some may say he was “old school” and that was one of the things I liked about him, like hard work making a difference in a persons life.
I enjoyed and have good memories of the time together and with the scouts.
I will see you again in heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ.

    1. Well said Al. We, too, knew Steve through Scouts. He was always very involved, very giving and very helpful; ready to lend a hand or a place or whatever was needed. 11. I knew Steve thru his sister Patty, and their parents, Ben and Martha. Steve was a genuine gentlemen, and very knowledgeable of all things with wheels and motors. He is missed by all who knew and enjoyed his love of life.

  12. I am one of those lucky people who had the pleasure of knowing Steve for 20 plus years. Because of Steve, myself, Rob and my daughter Missy (and many more) got to enjoy so many really fun activities. From boating, dirt bike riding, snowmobiling to camping Steve took the time to make it happen and included so many. For example, a bunch of us rented a house near Cottonwood Pass where Steve provided the all the snowmobiles. The group included old friends and new and the weekend I thought I was going to die. No just kidding. I was on the back of the snowmobile with Steve and was screaming with joy. Steve took that as me saying go faster so we flew to the top of Cottonwood Pass. Needless to say it is just one of the memories I have and will cherish forever. We’re going to miss that larger than life, king hearted Steve so much.

  13. I met Steve 1992 when he became my mechanic. We remained friends ever since then and I have many wonderful memories of snowmobiling, camping and boating with him and his family. What a fun guy! May you all find joy in remembering the good times spent with him and may he rest in peace.

  14. So sorry to learn of Steve’s passing. He was a great friend! Steve was one of the first people I met when I moved to Colorado Springs. I have very fond memories of all the good times we shared. He was a true friend and i am sure missed by all. He was a generous soul. I was fortunate to meet his wife and infant child on a return visit to Colorado years after i moved away. May all of you have fond memories of the time spent with him. Rest in peace Steve

  15. I met Steve in 1988 when I came to his shop to service his Sun Equipment. We quickly became friends as we had the same interests. I rented a room from him for a year in 89-90. We made many trips to go boating and camping, so many good memories. He was one of many to come to Spokane to be at my wedding. He was wise, kind, and generous. He will be missed. RIP buddy, Love you my friend.
