Sun T. Nathan
Sun T. Nathan, age 62, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1982 and formerly of Germany, Texas and South Korea, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Penrose Main Hospital. She was an interpreter for the State of Colorado, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Sun T. Nathan was born on January 18, 1952 in South Korea to the late Kim Do Shin and Hwang Ok Yi. She attended schools in South Korea. She married James Oliver Nathan, Sr. on March 2, 1977 in El Paso, Texas. Sun worked for Globelink Foreign Language Center, various courthouses along the Front Range, hospitals and law enforcement agencies, and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, educating others, and being active with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, 1SGT James O. Nathan, Sr. USA (Ret.) of Colorado Springs; her children: Lina N. (and Aaron) Dungy of Colorado Springs; Culmer K. Nathan (and Libby) of Colorado Springs; and her step-children: James O. Nathan, Jr. of South Dakota; Kevin I. Nathan of Colorado Springs; and Andre’ D. Nathan of Nevada.
She is also survived by two sisters: Kim Sang Hee and Kim Soon Yoon and a brother: Seok Chul Kim (and Kim Dong An), all of South Korea. Sun has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-daughter: Danielle F. Nathan.
She will be best remembered for her tireless efforts in service to the State of Colorado, the El Paso County Courthouse and local school districts. She was a devout Catholic, an excellent manager of money, but also had a big, soft heart that always put the needs of others before her own. She will be dearly missed.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. A reception will then take place at San Chang Korean Restaurant, 3659 Austin Bluffs Parkway #45 Colorado Springs, CO, 80918 (719) 598-1707.
