Susan Brown Orama, affectionately known as “Suzy Q”, was called home to the Lord on August 3, 2024, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born to Elizabeth “Betty” Brown and Ross Brown in Dobbs Ferry, New York on July 23, 1948, she was a beacon of light and warmth to everyone who knew her.

Susan was a cherished member of the Brown family, sister to James Brown and his wife, Norma. In 1972, she married her beloved husband, Julio Orama in a beautiful ceremony at the Christian Church of Rockland, marking the beginning of a 51-year marriage where they started a family of their own with love and devotion to each other in Christ.

Susan’s love extended to her three children: Nathaniel Orama, Daniel Orama, and Rachel Orama, who remember her nurturing soul, always ready with a comforting word or an engaging story. Her five grandchildren: Sophia, Jaedyn, Ryan, Emily, and Matthew; nephew, James “Jim” Brown Jr. and his wife, Diana; and niece, Michelle Brown will carry her legacy of kindness and joy.

An avid lover of artwork and creativity, she graced many with her unique cards and paintings. She loved spending time with friends and family sharing stories and laughing. Her commitment to walking in the light with the Lord was seen in the way she lived. Her most precious scripture was Psalm 62:1-2, which begins with:

1 Truly my soul finds rest in God,

my salvation comes from Him.

2 Truly He is my rock and my salvation;

He is my fortress. I will never be shaken

Susan will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her. Susan’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing.

Susan will be cremated at the Shrine of Remembrance in Colorado Springs and transported to New York for her final resting place. A private gathering with family and friends will follow to share fond memories, stories, or keepsakes.
