Susan “Sue” Carol Manginen passed away on April 14, 2025, at the age of 76. Her dedication to her family and her heart of gold, when you saw past her feisty personality, will truly be missed.  She touched so many hearts.

Susan was born on November 5, 1948 to Raymund and Joyce Nutoni in “Wrigleyville” in Chicago, Illinois. Sue met the love of her life, Bill, in high school and they were together for 60 years, and 58 years married.  Their love was a role model for those around them. She supported Bill through Vietnam and his 28-year military career.  They moved thirty times during their time in the military.  She raised two daughters and many animals. Their daughters are Dawn Glenn with her husband, Andy, and Nadine Gamble with her husband, Gary, and five grandchildren: Alex, Gary II, Harley, Tysan, and Jared, and a great grandchild, Tysan Jr (TJ).

Besides her family, Sue loved traveling, reading, dogs, chocolate, bowling, and golf.  In Japan, to find Sue, you needed to visit the golf course in rain, snow, typhoons, sun, and wind. Her handicap was extremely low!  Sue always volunteered, helped others, and donated to causes close to her heart.  She loved deeply and always was there to help her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister, Joy and her brothers-in-law Earl and his wife Paulette, Jerry, and Jeffrey and his wife Cynthia and sister-in-law, Barbara. She was preceded in death by Bill Manginen, Raymund Nutoni, Joyce Elam, and Maryanne Tamez.

Sue will be honored with a memorial in Colorado Springs on May 3, 2025, at the Shrine of the Remembrance at 2 pm which is followed by a meal at one of her favorite restaurants, Olive Garden. We asked for red to be worn if in attendance since it was her favorite color.  She will be scattered alongside her husband, Bill, at a later date with their immediate family.

Memorials in Sue Manginen’s name may be made to Humane Society.
