Sylvia Mary (DellaCroce) Pinello
“Toots”

Sylvia Pinello passed away May 25, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Sylvia was born July 8, 1929, the first of five children born to Mumbrino and Elise DellaCroce. Sylvia was blessed to have been born into a large Italian family with many aunts, uncles and cousins. Later she gained four siblings that she loved dearly. Early in life she was given the nickname “Toots” by her dad. Toots was born with the gift of being a caregiver; watching over others and always doing and giving more than she ever asked for back.

In September 1948 she was married to Tom Pinello, Jr. She was just four short months away from their sixty-eighth wedding anniversary when she passed. In 1951 she started her own family with a son, James. Later a daughter, Vicki, and way later, son, David. Along the way she had many other family members come live at her house. Toots’ life only got better and more fulfilled with the births of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Toots was one of the best cooks you would have ever come across; making everything from scratch. Her Sunday suppers were something to see. She kept her house so clean and in order that she was known as the “White Tornado”.

Toots was preceded in death by her parents, Mumbrino and Elise DellaCroce; and her sister, Jo Ann Sikole. She is survived by her husband, Tom Pinello, Jr.; son, James Edward Pinello (Dianne); daughter, Vicki London (Jim); son David Mumbrino Pinello (Kim); six grandchildren: Jim, Michael, Heather, Zachary, Ozzy, and Paige; seven great-grandchildren: Byron, Josh, Molli, Elijah, Alex, Sophi, and Arianna; a step-granddaughter, Andrea; two step-great-grandchildren: Cody and Elizabeth; her brother, Ron DellaCroce; sisters: Bobbi Laney and Christine Gross; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6455 Brook Park Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80918.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take your family out and have a good Sunday supper. Create a memory of a wonderful night together and give Toots a toast to a happy journey.
