Synda was born in Denver, Colorado to Edward M. Matt and Sarah Marie (Payne) Cowan. She was raised in Joplin, Missouri for 4 years by her grandmother, Emily Payne, and aunt, Melissa Mate. She also called Joplin, and Diamond, Missouri her home.
Our mother was a kind sole, and she adopted many friends into her life. She had a BIG heart for animals. She would take in anyone’s cat that was being given away. She had passion and love in her heart. It took her 78 years to finally break a bone! She will be remembered by many family and friends in our community. She was also an active Elks wife member.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Marie Cowan; stepfather, Ernie Cowan; father, Edward M. Matt; stepmother, Mabel (Babs) Matt; a grandson, Nicholas Williams; and two stepsisters.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Derk Jacobson; daughters, Melissa Layra Denise (Jacobson) Cawyer, and Marie Lyn Dayna (Jacobson) Alexander; son-in-law, Tim Alexander; 10 grandkids: Jessica Jacobson, Jonathan V. Brett Burton, Chris Williams (wife Tonya), Joseph Jacobson (wife Stephanie), Jennifer Jacobson, Sherry Elizabeth Jacobson (husband Tim), Justin V. Cordero Burton, James Jacobson, Jarrett Michael A. Jacobson, and Kalyn (Jacobson) Sharp (husband Tommy); 18 great grandkids; many nieces and nephews; and many friends that loved her.
A memorial gathering will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Elks Lodge Post 309, 3400 North Nevada Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80933.
Memorial contributions can be made to: Stray Rescue or Animal Shelter in her name. Mom wanted to help pets everywhere.
