Terue (Nishioka) Falkenstein
Terry passed away due to complications of a stroke on June 26, 2013 at the age of 80 years. She had been retired from JC Penney as a Department Supervisor.
She was born October 16, 1932 in Kagoshima, Japan, the fourth child of Yaogiro and Hana Nishioka. She loved gardening, reading, sewing, going for walks, cooking, dancing and traveling with her husband. She traveled overseas and throughout the U.S. as an Air Force wife.
She is survived by daughters: June Hasenbein (Ken) of St. Leon Rot, Germany, and Janice Helm (Robert) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandson, James Hasenbein of Alexandria, Virginia; and granddaughters: Terry Dodd (Johnie) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Katie Helm of Denver, Colorado. Also surviving her are her sisters: Kinue Nishioka, and Sakae Imaya of Tokyo, Japan; and sisters-in-law: Betty Altenburg and Eileen Carroll of Spokane, Washington, and Yoko Nishioka of Kagoshima, Japan.
Terry was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Falkenstein; parents, Yaogiro and Hana Nishioka; and brother, Tokonori Nishioka.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. followed by the service which is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A luncheon reception will follow the service and will be at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard.
Terry was a wonderful and exceptional woman. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. In lieu of memorial contributions, it is by request of the family that you spend quality time with an elderly person to show your respect, care, and appreciation.
