Thelma D. Montgomery, age 101, passed away December 21, 2011. She was a Medical Transcriptionist and had been a resident of Colorado Springs for 45 years. She was also a member of First Baptist Church.
She was born on September 29, 1910 to Nathaniel and Willie (Spencer) Daily in Starkville, Mississippi. She opened the first beauty shop in Starkville, Mississippi.
Thelma was a Master Tour Bridge player, a professional bowler, and an accomplished pianist. She was a remarkable lady who was highly educated. She had a good long life, traveled around the world and lived in financial comfort.
She is survived by her children: Williethel Montgomery of Southern California and Johnny Montgomery of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Harvey Montgomery.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. all at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Entombment will take place at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Alcove of Prayer.
