Thelma Folmer

Thelma Folmer, age 98, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1996 and formerly of Monument, Colorado passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at her home. She was a Commercial Artist in the advertising industry.

Thelma McGuire was born on September 24, 1915 in Mountainair, New Mexico to the late Robert F. and Pearl (Dyer) McGuire. She graduated from East High School in Denver in 1933 and later married George W. Folmer in 1946.

She enjoyed crafts, pottery and oil painting. She will be best remembered for her sense of humor and spunkiness.

She is survived by her nephews: Glen McGuire of Denver; John (Carol) McGuire of Santa Cruz, New Mexico; her nieces: Jeanne (Gary) Thompson of Arvada, Colorado; and Jill (Frank) Nauman of Saginaw, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George and her son: Steven Folmer, who both passed away in 1999. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers: Robert, Ernest “Mike” and John McGuire; and a nephew, Michael McGuire, who passed away in 1992.

Private mountain scattering services are planned for a future date. Memorials in her name made be made to the Southern Colorado Aids Project.
