Thomas E. Means
Thomas E. Means, age 65, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1953, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at his home. He had retired from the United States Civil Service (Air Force) and was a Personnel Industrial Security Expert.
Thomas Eugene Means was born on August 31, 1948 in Warren, Ohio to Walter E. and Helyn (Deems) Means. He attended primary and secondary schools in Colorado Springs and was a 1966 graduate of Mitchell High School. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and later attended Pikes Peak Community College. He married and raised a family.
He later married Eileen Rose Rutledge on August 31, 1990 in Colorado Springs. Tom was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, an avid bowler, a NASCAR enthusiast, a former member of First Congregational Church and currently a member of Pikes Peak Park Baptist Church. He will be best remembered for his love of family.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen; his mother Helyn Means; his daughter: Dawn Means; and his son: Thomas E. “Rocky” (and wife, Donna) Means of Colorado Springs; four grandchildren: Daisy, Holly, Syvanna and Cody; and a great granddaughter: Gracie.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter in 2007; and his sister, Susan Means Silver in 2008.
Memorial Services with Navy Honors will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Inurnment will follow at the Chapel Mausoleum. A reception will then be held at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 S. Union Boulevard, Colorado Springs.
He will be dearly missed.
