Timothy John Nixon
December 9, 1964 – August 11, 2016

Timothy John Nixon, 51, passed away on August 11, 2016, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was a resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico, and was formerly a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He also lived in Billings, Montana, and Colorado Springs, Colorado where he graduated from Doherty High School.

Tim was born December 9, 1964, to Douglas Nixon and Marlene (Peterson) Nixon in Wichita, Kansas. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America and earned his Eagle Scout rank. Tim received his Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Southern Colorado, Pueblo and his Master’s degree in Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University, Las Vegas, New Mexico. He remained in Las Vegas working for the State of New Mexico as Senior Social Worker with the Children, Youth and Families Department. He enjoyed working on his computer and playing with his grandson, Anthony. He also enjoyed soccer and for a time coached youth soccer teams.

He was preceded in death by his father and is survived by his loving family: mother, Marlene Nixon; son, Gilbert Maes (companion Jaymee Trujillo) and grandson Anthony Maes all of Las Vegas, New Mexico; son, Julian Gonzales (companion Stephanie Martinez) of Mora, New Mexico; granddaughter, Tanya Gonzales of Trinidad, Colorado; brother, David (Patricia) Nixon of Colorado Springs, Colorado; uncles: Keith (Lou) Nixon of Phoenix, Arizona, and Wendell (Shirley) Nixon; a nephew, James Nixon of Wichita, Kansas; a niece, Krista Nixon of Golden, Colorado; and six cousins.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 26, 2016, at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80910.
