Tressie Von Johnson
Tress Johnson, age 93 years, passed away on May 29, 2017. She was a resident of Ellicott, Colorado since 1950 and had been living in Texas near family for the past three years.
Tress was born on February 15, 1924 to Rolly and Ruby (Richardson) Hill in Eldorado, Oklahoma. She graduated from Morton High School, Morton, Texas where she met her future husband. On June 17, 1945 she married Gerald Ray Johnson in Morton, Texas. To this union was born three sons: Doyle, Dale and Don and one daughter, Phyllis.
Tress was busy raising four children while at the same time working full time in the dairy and fields. These duties did not keep her from being very involved in the community. She was a member of Ellicott EUB Church, later becoming United Methodist Church and finally a member of Ellicott Open Door. She was active in Women’s Home Demonstration Club and continued her membership in Colorado Cattlewomen’s Association until she moved in 2014.
She is survived by her children: Doyle (wife Dixie), Dale (wife Mary), Phyllis (husband Troy) and daughter-in-law Lisa; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Gerald (Jake) and youngest son, Don, two brothers and a sister.
A Celebration of Life will be July 8 at 10:00 AM at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel with a reception following at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center (across street from chapel).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tress’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of choice.
