Victor “Vic” Lamke
Victor “Vic” Lloyd Lamke, passed away on February 28, 2014 in Colorado Springs surrounded by his loving family. Vic was born on July 17, 1929 in Bronaugh, Missouri to the late George and Ruby (Lind) Lamke.
After graduating high school, Vic worked in advertising and display in Nevada, Missouri at Edmonton’s before moving to Colorado Springs in 1959. He then worked in advertising and display for J.C. Penney for several years before his love of cars led him to own and operate Freeway Standard Service Station. Vic retired in 1999 as an automotive mechanic.
Vic married Linda Saidy on May 30, 1964 in Castle Rock, Colorado. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and especially hunting. Vic loved to laugh, often sharing his clever one-liners but most importantly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Vic is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; children: Victor (Peggy) Lamke, Gary (Dolores) Lamke, David (Sandy) Lamke, Rex (Deborah) Lamke, Brian (Linda) Lamke, Debra (James) Kelly, John (Katey) Lamke and James (Lisa) Lamke; 23 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by his great nephew, Vernon (Sarah) Champlin and their children. Vic is preceded in death by his brother, George Lamke, Jr. and his sisters, Josephine Hamilett and Viola Snodgrass.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. A Rosary service will follow at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2318 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. A luncheon reception will be held at Corpus Christi following interment.
