Victoriano “Vic” Galvan, passed away on November 7, 2016. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for almost 50 years. He was born on July 24, 1937 to Victoriano and Frances (Martinez) Galvan in Center, Colorado. On June 11, 1960 he married Viola Solano of Florence, Colorado.
Vic was fond of helping his community. He enjoyed volunteering at the Marian House and at the Citadel Catholic Chapel. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish. He served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. He then retired from teaching both high school and college level Spanish.
He is survived by his daughter, Martha (Floyd) Tafoya; his brother, David Galvan; his sister, Mary Diarte; grandchildren: Jeremy Tafoya, Andrew Tafoya, Desiree Velasquez, Rachel Hernandez; and numerous great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Viola; parents; brother, Jose (Patrick) Galvan and his sister, Molly Faid.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2016 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 West Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Interment and military honors will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery, staging area “A” in Denver, Colorado on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.
