Mrs. Gardiner (Vi), a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, passed away December 21, 2013 at Pikes Peak Hospice. Vi was married to John R. Gardiner who passed away in February 2002.
Vi was born on June 3, 1934 in Freedom, Nebraska to Clarence Martin and Florence (Mecham) Martin. In addition to raising six children, Vi pursued a career in the Civil Service and retired as a secretary at the USAF Academy in August 1991.
After retirement, Vi spent much of her time researching family history, which she enjoyed very much. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for family gatherings.
She is survived by five sons: Roy (Maria), Bob (Lacy), Dave (Jeanne), Mike (Jerre) and Paul (Erin); one daughter: Trish (Blair) Horton; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A service and interment will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado (Staging Area A).
