Violet Kyle Ehrig
Violet Kyle Ehrig, age 98, a resident of Groton, Connecticut for the past seventeen years and formerly of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on November 7, 2012 at the Groton Regency Senior Living Center in Groton, Connecticut. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Violet Lois Ehrig was born on August 8, 1914 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Edward and Grace (Shanahan) Kyle. She attended schools in Chicago and later served her country stateside in the war effort of World War II. She married Frank L. Ehrig on June 12, 1948 in Los Angeles, California. She was an amazing wife and mother and while living in Colorado Springs, was a parishioner of Divine Redeemer Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and was a gifted porcelain painter.
She is survived by her daughter: Diane (and husband, Stephen) Bowles of Gales Ferry, Connecticut; and her three wonderful grandchildren: Ian Bowles of Gales Ferry, Cara Bowles of Groton, and Eric Bowles of Boston, Massachusetts.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank in 1978. Also preceding her were her four brothers: Edward, Russell, Robert and William Kyle.
Violet will be best remembered for her feistiness and the beautiful porcelain plates and cups she shared with family and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Inurnment will follow at the Chapel Mausoleum.
Memorials in her name may be made to the American Heart Association.
