Virginia “Ruth” Adams
March 28, 1924 – June 30, 2014
Ruth Adams, age 90, went to heaven June 30, 2014. She passed of a heart attack, with her loving family surrounding her.
Virginia Ruth Adams was born in Sheridan, Missouri, the first child of Austin and Edna (Allee) Payton. Ruth was the valedictorian and queen of her class. Ruth wore many hats serving those around her as a teacher, secretary, bookkeeper, business woman, and homemaker. She was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church, and an avid bridge player, usually playing twice a week. She loved having lunch with her “Bridge Girls”. She played golf, rode horses, and was a life time member of the Colorado Springs Country Club. She helped for several years being a receptionist for her daughter Marcia at her beauty shop, Marcia’s Guys & Dolls. She loved to travel and read, and was a best friend to many.
Ruth is survived by her daughters: Marcia Kay (Rick) Mayhew, Coeta Suzanne (Ron) Thrasher; step daughter: Carolyn, Shirley; siblings: Lucile (Harold) O’Connell, Larry (Joyce) Payton, Diana (David) Bollinger; grandchildren: Babette, Bobette, Bridgette, Jonathan (Jen), Jessica, Joshua (Jaime), Britney, Cyrstal (Robert), Tad (Jodi), Destiny; great-grandchildren: Robert, Claire, Jake, Samuel, Brooklynn, Austin; great great-grandchildren: Robert, Jeremiah, Liliana, Briana, Lorenzo, Laney. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Hugh Ingels and Charley Adams; her parents; and siblings: Mary Lou Payton and Jay Payton.
Ruth will be greatly missed by her family and friends and many nieces and nephews she loved and inspired, with her strong work ethics, family values, and patriotism. She truly was a woman of grace with many wonderful attributes.
A memorial service will be held for Ruth at 1:00 pm Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Inurnment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance. A reception will follow at the Colorado Springs Country Club at 2:30.

Ruth’s granddaughters lovingly called her “the head queen” of our family, and she proudly wore that crown.
