SSG Walter L. Knight

SSG Walter L. Knight, United States Army (Ret.), age 90, a resident of the Colorado Springs area since 1954, passed away suddenly on February 28, 2013 in Colorado Springs. He had retired and served his country for nearly 30 years in the United States Army as a Civil Engineer. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and neighbor.
Walter Lee Knight was born on September 13, 1922 in Weskan, Kansas to the late Paul and Ambrozine (Smith) Knight. He graduated from high school in Weskan and attended Kansas Wesleyan College. He was a graduate of Pikes Peak Community College. He served in the United States Army during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He married Roberta Johnson on 25 of December 1949 in Kansas. Roberta passed away in 1979. He married Michiko Wilson in 1981. Michiko died in 2007. Walter enjoyed hunting and fishing, and carpentry was his love.
He is survived by his two daughters: Gwendolyn Lee (husband, Herbert) Blum of Wiesbaden, Germany; and Dana Louise (husband, Lawrence) Turner of Colorado Springs; his sister: Louise MacDaniel of Salina, Kansas; his nephew: Paul and niece: Ethel and their children and grand-children; two step-sons: Paul Wilson of Illinois; and Bobby Wilson of Denver, Colorado. Mr. Knight also has three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three wives; and a sister: Pauline Fletcher; and a brother: Joseph Knight.
In accord with our father’s wishes no memorial services were held.
