Wanda (Wright) Lewis, passed away quietly on March 15, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado surrounded by her loving family.

A native of Johnson City, Tennessee, Wanda was born on June 19, 1924 to the late V.C. “Jake” and Emma (Gray) Wright.

She graduated from Science Hill High School and worked at Oak Ridge before working at Mountain Home in Johnson City where she met her husband James W. Lewis. They moved to Washington, D.C. where they both worked for the federal government. A few years later she chose to live her life as a wife and a mother. She was absolutely devoted to her family. Wanda was always very close to her only child, Kathryn Lewis-Salem. She welcomed Kathy’s husband, Abdelmonem Salem and cherished the addition of her grandson, James H. Salem. All are residents of Colorado Springs where in 2007 she joined them to live until her passing. An avid reader and bird enthusiast, she continued working crosswords in ink until her final day.

Wanda is preceded in death by her husband, James in 2007 and her only sibling, Shirley Harvey. Besides her family in Colorado, Wanda is survived by an aunt, Francis Huntley; caring in-laws, a host of wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews and a special friend, Eloise Hartman.

Graveside services will be held at the Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Her generous heart filled her home with love.
