Wayne Lee Timan was born February 10, 1951, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was the youngest of seven children born to Raymond and Georgia (Woods) Timan. He was raised on the family farm near Pomeroy, Iowa. Wayne graduated in 1973 from Iowa State University, with a bachelor’s degree in economics and industrial administration. Early on, he developed an aptitude for working with motorcycles and he eventually started a career as a Harley-Davidson motorcycle mechanic, in Topeka, Kansas. He excelled in that field and rose to the level of “Master Technician”, eventually getting promoted to Manager of the Service Department at the Topeka Harley-Davidson dealership, where he worked for almost 20 years.
In 2004, Wayne relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado. He had previously lived briefly in Longmont, Colorado, shortly after graduating from college, and he still had a love for the beauty of the Colorado mountains.
Wayne was a devoted father to his son, Lee. He also greatly loved his daughter-in-law, Annie (Springer) and he was a proud grandfather to his three grandchildren: Samuel, Kaleb, and Makenzie. He loved spending time with them whenever he could, and he loved to tell others about their many accomplishments.
Throughout his life, Wayne had many passions including wheeled objects (classic cars, motorcycles, dirt bikes, and eventually recumbent tricycles), photography (he was often seen carrying a camera around his neck), reading Clive Cussler novels, and camping in the wilderness. Except for visiting family, his favorite thing to do was to go on camping trips with friends (often involving off-road dirt-bike trail riding or long road trips on motorcycles). He was most at peace in nature, enjoying the scenery of the mountains and the quiet morning of a campground.
Wayne passed away peacefully in his home on March 2, 2024, at the age of 73.
Wayne was survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Annie Timan of Lincoln, NE; and his grandchildren: Samuel, Kaleb and Makenzie Timan; his brother, Don Timan of Waianae, HI; and sisters, June (Stan) Hanson of Tempe, AZ and Jean Timan of Urbandale, IA; his sister-in-law, Judy Timan of Golden Valley, MN; his niece, Sara (Aaron) Rudquist of Crystal, MN; and nephew, Rob Timan of La Crosse, WI; as well as many extended family members.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Raymond Timan and Paul Timan; as well as a sister who died in infancy. Wayne’s remains will be scattered by family in a private ceremony in the Colorado Springs area.
