Wendell Harry Morrell, 86, passed away on June 19, 2014. He was a resident of the Colorado Springs area for 80 years, living in Black Forrest, Manitou Springs, Woodland Park, Canon City, and Colorado Springs. He made Ice Cream starting at Barthel’s in 1946 and retiring from Sinton Dairy in 1987.

Wendell was born on October 11, 1928 to Clarence Morrell and Honora (Cooke) Morrell in Beloit, Kansas. On January 27, 1946 he married Verna Clide Dill in Colorado Springs, CO.

Wendell and his family moved to Black Forrest, Colorado from Kanas in 1934 where his parents parents and aunt and uncle owned and operated a Fox Farm where they raised foxes and minks for their fur. Farming was still in his blood though and he and his brother went back to Beloit, Kansas every harvest from the age of 14 until Wendell married. He and his wife, Clide, spent much time traveling around the Colorado mountains in an old 4 wheel drive Toyota and camping every chance they got.

He is survived by his children: Kay Doiel (Bob) and Sheri Simpson (Ed); his grandchildren: Chad Simpson (Candy), Cara Bement (Gary), and Jason Doiel (Denisse); and his great grandchildren: Anissa Doiel and Autumn Bement. He was preceded in death by his wife Clide; his twin brother Wayne; and his sisters, Virginia, Beth, Charlotte, and Ellen.

No services are planned at this time. Wendell and Clide’s ashes will be scattered at a later date.
