Werner A. Thanner, age 82, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012. He was a self-employed printer for 35 years at L.T. Litho and was a Colorado Springs resident for 50 years.
Werner was born on May 12, 1929 in Zurich, Switzerland to Caecilie Thanner. He married Carmen Kawamata.
Werner was the former President of Pikes Peak Soaring Association and had been a flight instructor at Black Forest Glider Port. He was a real outdoorsman who loved skiing, hang-gliding, camping, and fishing. Though he wasn’t a chef by profession, he was certainly good enough to be one. He also was an excellent story teller, relaying life’s myriad experiences.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen; his two sons: Mike (and Denice) Thanner, and Steve Thanner; his daughter, Jennifer (and Rene) Daellenbach; his step-children: Jerry (and Judy) Cordova, Tasha K. (and Noah) Ryan; and 8 grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A reception will follow at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard.
