Wilbert Ervin Brooks, Jr., age 84, passed away November 7, 2021, in Fountain, Colorado. He was born September 30, 1937, in Covington, Kentucky to Wilbert Ervin and Ollie Mae (Blackaby) Brooks.
He was a proud Army veteran and served in the Korean War and Vietnam. After retiring from the Army, he worked for the El Paso County Department of Transportation for many years. He married Charlotte Ann Koonce in Evansville, Indiana.
He loved to bowl and play softball and was an avid poker player.
He is survived by two sons, Michael and Gerald Brooks; three daughters: Pam Tompkins, Debbie Cook, and Sheryl Zappone; fourteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ann Brooks, his parents, and one son, Robert Brooks. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd. Colorado Springs, Colorado. Inurnment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Gate of Heaven Mausoleum.
