William “Bill” Raymond Joos died unexpectedly on August 1, 2016 in Colorado Springs at the age of 59. Bill is survived by his wife, Cindy; two sons, Stephen and Paul (Kim); his mother, Wilda Mefford; a brother, Rich (Jolee); a sister, Kay Jacobs (Brian); and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard.

Bill was born on March 5, 1957 in Fruita, Colorado to Richard and Wilda. When he was a child, he moved around frequently as his father was an electrician in the Navy. Following in his father’s footsteps, he joined the electrical trade, working alongside him in the family business. Bill eventually earned his Master’s, and took over Joos Electric.

In 1983, he met his wife, Cindy and they married that October. Cindy gave birth to two sons, Stephen William in 1984 and Paul Michael three years later. The most important thing to Bill was his family. He provided a safe home full of unconditional love and was always thankful for God’s continual blessings. Bill was a Christian and shared his faith with every action, demonstrating Christ’s love by helping others regardless of faith or background. He touched many lives with his kind and gentle nature.

Bill was passionate about having fun whether it was riding motorcycles, running, or going to the beach. He imparted this on his two sons, never wanting to let go of the kid in him, and instilled in them the motto “work hard and play hard.”

Five years ago, he developed an interest in running that he shared with his wife, sons, and friends. Even a serious knee injury could not hold him back, and he not only succeeded in regaining his former strength, but became more fit than ever, completing his first half marathon in October 2015. He ran a second half marathon less than one month later and shaved 4 minutes off his time.

Even though his heart failed him, the love he shared will live on in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2016, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
