
William Stanley Shanahan, a Colorado Springs resident since 1982, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
William was born on January 13, 1948, to Johnnie Shanahan and Margaret Albertina (Joyner) Shanahan in Jackson, Mississippi. He graduated from Forest Hill High School in Jackson and married Paula Ann Meyers on July 24, 1971, also in Jackson.
He served his county in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He spent a significant amount of time in Germany while he was on active duty. After his retirement from the army, he worked as a budget analyst for the United States Civil Service at Fort Carson.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Ann (Meyers) Shanahan; two daughters, Loral Epp (Jared) and Rachel Bonebright (Michael); two sisters, Sarah Upchurch and Bobbie Damiens; and five grandchildren: Nathan Bonebright, Samuel Bonebright, Ryan Epp, Vivian Bonebright, and Isaac Epp.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Carl, David, John, and Jim Shanahan; a sister, Mary Parker; and a grandson, Johnathan Bonebright.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Grace Bible Church, 5027 North Academy Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918. A private graveside service will be held at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
Memorials in William’s name may be made to Grace Bible Church’s missions fund.
