Willie James Honea, age 78, passed away on 11/27/2020.  He was a resident of Colorado Springs for over 45 years prior to growing up abroad in a military family.  He was an air force pilot, flight instructor, and computer engineer.

 Will was born on December 18, 1941 to Charles and Anna Louise Honea.  On June 12, 1966, he married Frances Ann Scott at the First Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, CO.

 Will was fond of computers, electronics, and camping.  He also enjoyed fixing things and had an appreciation for cars.  He was a member of Garden Ranch Baptist Church. As a military kid, he attended 16 different public schools, was an Eagle Scout, participated in Boy’s Nation, and went on to graduate from the Air Force Academy in 1964.  He continued to serve in the United States Air Force for 12 additional years.

His accomplishments during his time in the Air Force include piloting the A-37 in Vietnam, during which time he was awarded the flying cross, and serving as a member of the United State Air Force Academy faculty.

 He is survived by his loving wife, Ann; his children: Richard, Scott, and Martha; his siblings: Chuck, Barbara, and Glenn; and his grandchildren: Fletcher, Duncan, Anna, Ethan, and Faith.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00am MT on Thursday, December 3 at the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery.

 Memorials in Will’s name may be made to the Garden Ranch Baptist Church.
