Katherine A. DeMars, age 84, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1991 and formerly of Irvine and San Clemente, California, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Mt. St. Francis Care Center in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker and a CPA.

Katherine Alice Ferkovich was born on August 2, 1927 in Klein, Montana to Joseph and Ella (Bublich) Ferkovich. She was a graduate of Bozeman State University with a degree in Interior Design. She was a member of Holy Apostles Catholic Church and the Solos Club.

She enjoyed travel, her family, dancing, music and her many friends… but her family was always “number one” in her life.

Katherine is survived by four sons: Christopher F. (and Carolyn) Nadeau of Keiser, Oregon; Dana R. (and Allison) Nadeau; Kim Jerome (and Judy) Nadeau; and Eric Mark (and Isabella) Nadeau, all of Kauai, Hawaii. She has one daughter: Lori Nadeau (and Lisa Kreie) of Peyton, Colorado; a sister: Terry (Marvin) Dodds of Victoria, Canada; two brothers: Emil (Sharon) Ferkovich of Oceanside, California; and Jimmy (and Shelly) Ferkovich of Woodland, California. She has six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Lyle A. Nadeau, her second husband, Vernon DeMars and two brothers: Matt and Joseph Ferkovich.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2012 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 North Carefree Circle. A reception will follow the services at the church. Cremation is planned. Private interment will be held at the Forsyth Cemetery in Forsyth, Montana.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Colorado Springs.
